I just had the exact same experience, the crown popped off and blew around the sand. About 2-week'ish now, there's a new duster sprouting out of the tube. It's a nice green color, hopefully it stays green.
About your guys' target feeding, does yours 'grab' it (shoot into the tube)? Mine just lets the photyo pass over.
