Feather Duster?

Hi all, I just purchessed a feather duster worm with a 1 inch crown. For now it is in my 2.5 gallon pico cube. I have read the lighting bothers them, is this true? I have 4watts per gallon. Also at night will it bother the worm to have 5 blue led bulbs over the tank for night veiwing?

Thanks all

The light wont bother them no. When you look at the feather duster on the crown there are colored stripes. These stripes can sense very small changes in light and movement but it is for it own safety . Like when something is hanging over it ready to eat it kinda thing. The light will be fine as I have 3 under around 5 watts a gallon of PC lighting. Night lights are fine too.

They wont get much bigger then when you got it. I dont think you will be able to keep any more in that tank. They are filter feeders and need to filter feed to eat. In such a small tank you wont have the natural food to keep any amount. If you feed the tank it will create to much waste in such a small tank.

Some feather dusters have simple eyes, some don't. Light doesn't bother either type. There are several species sold in the trade so how big yours will get depends on the species. It may not get any bigger or it could go up to a couple of inches in diameter. I agree with KeMo about not overpopulating your tank.
