feather dusters

What do they look like? My rock is covered in those tiny little red with a white tube type, I mean hundreds of them. I never attempted to remove them they do a huge part of my filtering I think sponges and tube worms are a great asset.

Not to be confused with feather duster or tube worms,
vermetid snails are a snail that encrusts a tight coil and looks very much like a feather duster I hate the little bastards every time I move rock around in my refuge, oooch, the tubes are quite sharp…however they are good filter feeders, I read that they feed by spitting out mucus to catch detritus and pulls it back in to eat it, also read that they can irritate corals I break them off or encapsulate them in superglue in my DT.
Don’t know but this maybe what you are dealing with
And as far as filter feeders I say let your skimmer do the job, get rid of those pesky little feather duster that grow in huge clumps.. kill them all….:wavehand:

I know what vermetid snails are and your right those little buggers are sharp and normally grow in a dark area, mine are defiantly tube worms.. white tube with a red feather that moves in and out of their tube

i have a peppermint shrimp that eats them like crazy. Sell you it for 10000$ lol

Really none of the above, I have had my LR for 9 years. Its covered in sponge and coraline. 0 Nitrates.
