i have, or had, 4 feather dusters in my 125g reef tank. they have all been in there for at least 5 months, one for over a year. just with in the last two days, 2 of them have lost their crowns. i put marine snow in about once a week. could there be something in the tank that could be ripping them off? i have a coral beauty, starry blenny, sailfin tang, blue tang, 6line wrasse, diamond goby, 5 chromis, and 2 purple firefish. a tux urchin, 3 cleaner shrimp, snails and some hermits. Thanks for your help!!!

If the crowns are being eaten then likely candidates are your fish, shrimp, & hermits. It might be more useful to check your water parameters - dropping crowns is a sure sign of stress.

I would blame your coral beauty...they are unpredictable, and have a reputation for picking at feather dusters.

I had the same experience, so I think their reputation is justified :(

Of course, as LeslieH mentioned, it could be stress from bad tank params.

i checked the water, and there is nothing that is out of wack. did you have to get rid of your coral beauty? i think she is picking on my opean brain coral too. and advice? would a flame angel be any better?
