Feb/March Meeting Wants/Availability

Hi all, I just wanted to go ahead and start this just in case someone is considering harvesting soon.

I just lost some of my chaeto and would be grateful for anyone's cast offs from nutrient harvesting. I am also looking for Montipora digita (whatever) frags that people do not have strong feelings about (i.e. it doesn't have to be attractive -- it is going into my gobby tank and I am hopeful that my green clown/coral gobies will strip some polyps from it and nest; plus, the tank only has PC lights.)

I have 30 cc needles if anyone wants some for killing pests. I don't know if you could get kalk into the needles, though. I just discovered last month that I still had these; they were for giving my cat insulin. 30 cc isn't a lot of fluid, but I thought I would throw it out there.

I also have a male spotted mandarin that I really should not keep if anyone wants him. He has a nice long first dorsal ray.

I was looking for a mate for my large spotted, whose first dorsal ray is not very elongated. But, mine is male and therefore these two didn't get along.

The "extra" one is now in an Aquapod, but I don't think he should stay there. In fact, I'm not even sure if this guy would be available for the next meeting, as I am not 100% sure of his health and I wouldn't want to pass along an unhealthy fish. I'm going to see if I can't fatten him up a bit, but once this is accomplished, he is free to a good home.

If you have an unhealthy mandarin, may be better to pass him along sooner than later if it's a matter of insufficient food supply. I do not have enough sand bed to support one, otherwise I'd probably take it.

As far as cheato, I have some you are more than welcome to have... just PM me a reminder on Friday ;)

Thanks Joel (chaeto)

The mandarin is no doubt thinner than I'd like. But what is concerning me is that his color looks a little faded. There is a lot of rock in the tank, and most of the time I see him he is dueling w/ his reflection, so it is difficult to get a really good look at him. He'll get some more food tonight. Then we'll see...

Thanks again.

If he's eating frozen foods, I can take him in my frag tank.

Can someone spare a piece of monti cap for a sacrifice to the reef-tank gods? My tank is below 15ppm no3, should be close to 5ppm by the weekend so I'm hoping I'm clear to start stocking again.

Also looking for some interesting zoos if anyone has. I don't have any coral to trade at the moment, but I'm willing to swap for labor, acrylic work, or other supplies anyone needs.

I've got monti-cap, PM me if anyone wants to come by for it. My frag tank needs cleared out.

Did you get the 175 hooked up yet?

Yup, sure did. It works great too, the rest of the frag tank equipment needs work, but I guess you saw the other thread, so the frag tank is gonna have to wait for now, just want to get it cleared out and re-setup at the other house. :D

Cool, glad to hear it. Are you coming on Saturday? If so, I've got plenty of space in my frag tank, and it probably I probably won't kill anything this time. :)

NCN -- This spotted hasn't taken frozen foods yet. I think his tank is too interesting -- there is so much macroalgae in there, and he is so busy fighting w/ his reflection, that he passes it by. My original male took frozen pretty quickly and on his own accord. Then he taught the female that I placed with him how to do this. The other problem could be the fish this male is currently with. Although the firefish is a glutton, it is only interested in enriched brine that is in the water column, and who knows when the Randall's shrimp goby eats.

Speaking of eating, does anyone have fish who like the Sally's/San Fran brand of enriched brine shrimp? I got a few blister packs thinking that it was the kind that my fish liked -- but I was incorrect. There is no point in me wasting it on my fish. (Hey, there is a crocus blooming outside -sorry.) I also have a flat pack of the Sally's/San Fran regular brine, that my fish dislike. It can sometimes be stringy, so it is better for either inverts or larger fish that can swallow larger foods. None of this stuff has been open, if anyone wants it.

Can someone bring a Mag test kit? I need to confirm my readings of this Salifert kit - says my mag is over 1600, which I highly doubt. Also said my freshly mixed IO was about 1300..

Hey Bill, I will bring one, is there anything else like that you need me to bring?
Matt

Can't think of anything else, but I might call you at the last minute. :)

EDIT: already thought of something - I'd like to verify my refractometer too. I've got the salinity monitor fluid, but it's a tad old.

I'll bring that too.
Matt

I'll bring my solution and refractometer too. Mine has been fluctuating wildly lately.

Joe

I'll bring some of my water to be tested. With as tight as my budget is right now, I can't justify buying some of the test kits, even though I know I need them.
