As stated in the other post We are looking at the last weekend for the meeting date I am posting this to start the discussion on which day people prefer. We will try to go with the majority if possiable.

I am sorry if you think it should be on MRTC own website but I wanted to do it right away and get more response from all people now so I can start nailing down the date to start talking to places. Not having this poll on mtrc by no means shows preference of sites just I know how to do it here and didn't want to have double counting.

Thank you for the people who are starting to vote though. :)

Thanks for putting it up here Wayne... for some reason when I pull up the MTRC website at work it goes very slow so I dont bother....

Plus the only way to get a fast response is on here anyways..

Same here, anytiime I get on our website it is very slow. That is on three diffrent computers also. I like our site, but it seems that it does not have as much activity as RC.

Whenw as the last time you were there? I had done some optimization to try and help it load faster, but I ams till hamstrung by the hosting companies setup. If it was recent (the past few weeks) let me know what browser you use please.)

Well it is neck and neck I prob should have added a either one. I am wanting to try and include as many as possiable.

Not trying to be critical here, I work in a computer field too, so I know the pains with Web servers/networks/API's the whole bit...but yeah, it's kinda slow on mutliple computers for me too...all using IE (all v7 I think)...

I have tried using the site in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome on Mac, and IE 8 and Firefox on Windows. The site is slow on all browsers for me and never seems to keep me logged in even after checking remember log in. I don't think it's the site itself, probably the server / hosting provider's fault.

I also find the fish staring at me to be a bit creepy :hmm4:

Im pretty sure you will not stay loggied in if you have cookies disabled. Try adding the site to your trusted internet sites and see if it improves, otherwise the caching won't help. I do know there are optimizations I cannot do bacuse of the hosting provider, but thatn is the way of the worls. Here, I gt an average of a 3 second load time on IE8, IE8 (in compat mode), and firefox.

I also know that if you having a phishing filter enabled on your browser, it slows things down alot.

My cookies are enabled. My prefs and logins are saved at 3reef, reef 2 reef, reefcentral, and all other sites I visit. Just not mtrc.

I will look into creating a more optimized tempalte (without Zach's fish nightmares even though I like the effect it's having on him). Preferably, someone else probably has more css experience than I do and will chime in to lend a hand. If not, it will be when I get a chance. I do want to go full width rather than the fixed size we have now.

You might want to start a seperate thread regarding this, but since it was asked, I'll submit my experiences. I have random intervals that I stay logged in, sometimes only for a few hours, sometimes for a few weeks. Does not seem to be connected to cache clearing, etc. I use IE 7, IE 8, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera all, and I have slowness issues. It does seem to be faster within the last few weeks, but there seems to be a several second (7-8?) pause before the page loads, but then it's usually fairly steady load after that. Almost as if the initial connection on each page load is freaking out.

That may be the caching interval on the server. Thanks for the info. I average 304 second laod times and that is "good enough" in my book. but freezes, or the css not laoding is not acceptable. I tried to optimize the web server but then the hosting company rules complained and told me the setup was unsupported.

I am going to put the site up on my host and ahve guys hit it and see if there is significant performance increase or not, that will lead me to narrowing down if it's host, the template, or something different.
