FedEX-- Shipping--- Very Important

I have read threads on this and other forums both praising and criticizing Federal Express and UPS. Although all shippers, FedEx included occasionally have shipping disasters, it is important to remember the alternatives to no FedEx.

It may be a little known fact that in the past shippers have considered NOT shipping living specimens including aquatic life. I can promise the entire hobby that special interest groups will continue to pressure package carriers including FedEX and other airlines to not ship live animals--- including fish and corals. Remember that virtually every local fish store, aquatics etailer and wholesaler would be out of business instantly, should shipments cease. The entire aquatics hobby and industry will be gone. As a hobby we should be thankful that FedEx is here and has been willing to stand by us.

The future will require shipping experts such as us at LiveAquaria.com to use our animal health expertise and credentials to influence the political decisions that could destroy the hobby. Please remember that LiveAquaria's excellent livestock care and shipping records, along with my veterinary degree and animal health connections may be a major factor in influencing shipping policies and perhaps even law. We are the only ones with the size and credentials to provide a voice backed by statistics, education and credentials. If you need a reason to support us, here it is. We are the ones that can leverage political decisions which could decide the industries fate. LiveAquaria.com cannot do it without your orders and support.

Recently I spoke to a couple hundred "veterinarians to be" at Michigan State University. I am on the board of Directors at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the topic of discussion was fish and corals. More than once the issue of stress and shipping death came up, especially with coral. The point is, that the hobby needs to constantly justify itself, fortunately I could.

I would ask that you be conscientious of your criticisms of shippers and report the facts as well as remember the appreciation. Even though they are not perfect, we do not want them to go away. We want them to improve and continue to
support us.

Lastly, It is my intention to continue be a credentialed political spokesperson in favor of the hobby. I need your support in business to make that happen. There are many factors in deciding where to purchase your fish and corals, please add this to the list.

Please feel free to post this in other areas and forums.

Thank you, Race Foster, D.V.M.

Yeah I've gotten least maybe 30 shipments from fedex and not a single problem. With the box, heck I even got them to turn around and come back because the box held fish and it was a cold day out. I dunno where your getting your fedex boxes sent to but I've never had a single problem with shipping.

I order a LOT from you folks and a little from other vendors. I only had one FEDEX problem and that was because the plane could not land at Ohare. That was NOT a FEDEX problem. It was my problem for not being sensitive to the weather forecast. That is why, during the winter, it is a good idea to check your local forecast to make sure no blizzard is scheduled.

The internal processes that FEDEX uses are complex but automated; however, they vary by type of service. For the absolute safest, it is always best to pay the extra $10 for priority overnight if you want to insure your animals have the best shipping alternative.
