feeding a snow flake eel

I have a small snow flake approx 10-12" and only about 1/2 3/4" in diameter. I have been feeding either freeze dried krill soaked in vitamin enriched tank water, frozen krill or silversides cut in half. Everything I have been feeding a let soak/thaw in tank water with vita-chem added. My question is how much to feed? Quantity wise and how ofter. I have been feeding every other day or every 2 days. And I feed 4-6 pieces of food. like 1/2" pieces of silversides and approx the same size krill pieces. Is that enough? It seems like this guy would eat until he popped!! Quite the appetite!! I want to give it enough food but at the same time I am trying not to ruin my water quality.

Always a perilous balancing act... How much to feed w/o polluting your tank... IMO you are feeding him more than you need to... Not that you're feeding too much... lol Depends on how fast you want him to grow, etc. etc... Its one of the reasons why carnivores are less desirable in a reef tank... I know some people with lions and whatnot that only feed once and sometimes twice a week... You may also consider feeding squid/clams/or oysters once in a while... Its supposed to have something to do with the iodine content or something like that... Not sure if the FD Krill would cover that or not... I'm sure that someone else can help you out more than me... lol Preds aren't my specialty...

Sorry everyone - I am at work and bouncing around on the internet when I get a chance - my intention was to post in the fish only agressive forum. Which I thought I did until I hit the post button.

I thought I would try something different for a while and see how I liked it. I moved almost all my LPS and the few pieces of sps I had into a 58 rr tank. The 75 has the anemone and clowns my large spaghetti leather, hammer & torch ( for now ) and a few other softies. And I added a medium flame angel, the snowflake eel and a small dwarf zebra lion. Just thought it might be fun to try something new - we'll see how it works out.

The eel won't eat the clowns?

No the eel will only get approx 24" and usually only goes after smaller fish like chromis, dragonets, gobies etc. ( which I don't have any of in that tank) My female clown is pushing 4" and the one I got from matt is smaller but stays in the anemone. When the eel first went into the tank it got against the anemone for just a split second and bolted to the other side of the tank. Due to the sting and the advances from the female clown! She has become quite agressive when it comes to things getting near her nem!
