feeding a snowflake eel?

How often do you feed a snowflake eel? When mine was small I was feeding him 2 silversides every third day, Now he's about 16"-18" and very thick and he wants to eat 5 silversides every other day. Is this too much, but if I dont feed him every other day he goes on a feeding frenzy when I put food in and tries to get the other fish. Just today when I was feeding him He got both my niger trigger and humu trigger in his mouth, not badly he didn't bite them and they both continue eating and seem perfectly fine.

Thanks

I would use a feeding stick to spot feed your eel. I always have and its never a problem. My Snowflake is about the same size and eats WAY more than when he was young. He used to eat every 2-3 days but now he wants food everyday! He very greedy. I feed him a little less but everyday now. Otherwise he tries to eat my puffers which are too big for him to eat but its annoying.

Also, try feeding him other stuff as well as silversides. Mine LOVES squid! Also shell foods are good.

Good luck.

Thank you Justin,
I do use a feeding stick it just that the triggers had gotten to close to his food. maybe I should try feeding him a little everyday and he wont be so crazy. also what kind of squid do you feed him, fish food squid or do you go to a seafood store to get it.

I get squid and all kinds of stuff from an asian market. Just make sure its fresh with nothing added and then freeze it.

I have my puffers come near the feeding stick when I feed my eel but I try to feed them first a little and THEN the eel. He has gotten very aggressive though anyways and takes the food very quickly and hides in a cave to eat it.
