Feeding Acan Lords

I am having trouble getting my acan lords to eat brine shrimp. Even when their feeding tenticles are out, even with my pump of, they do seem to hold on the the food. Sometimes I will feed they cyclopeezes. The acans open immediatly, their feeder tenticle come out and they seem to love the stuff. My question is, are cyclopeezes really food for the corals are just a vitamin suppliment. Can the acans live a grow by eating only cyclopeezes?

Thanks for you input

I turn all the pumps off and try and feed every polyp mysis about 1-2 times a week. It would be a pain if they were bigger and in my main tank but there pretty small frags right now and easily accessible in my frag tank. However, they have doubled in size in about 2 months :) Their also under 175 watt SE 20K XM under only 2" of water.

Thanks for your input. The majority of my acans are larer colonies so feeding each polyp will take while but I'll give it a try.

Thaks

Good luck!! I have found it virtually impossible to feed every polyp. Reason being, when target feeding one polyp if you hit the one next to it with "overspray" it closes. Now it can't be fed till it opens again.

I've been trying a turkey baster with the large colonies trying to make sure I hit every polyp. I am having the same problem with a large duncan colony. It has like 100 polyps and it's almost impossible to feed each polyp. It's all kind of a pain. Maybe it make sense to just have corals that live off the lighting.

Oh well!

What do you mean won't eat but will hold onto the food? They don't grab it and immediately pull it into their mouth?

Feeding isn't necessary but will increase growth. They can eat lots of things. Cyclo is fine. I feed mine brine and Rod's food. Do you have many pods? They'll eat those at night if they crawl over them.

I've got about 15 different acans. I feed using a pippette(sp?) it's the little turkey baster used with a refractometer. I cut it back so the opening would be alittle larger. Good control IMO. I don't worry about hitting every polyp. As long as most get fed I'm good. I'll try to hit the others on the next feeding.
