Feeding bubble tip anemone

I just bought our first bubble tip anemone. My question is how often do I need feed my new bta, and can I feed it too much? So far he has eaten silver sides the last 4 days. It eats like it is starving and makes the silver sides disappear in seconds.

I only feed my BTAs about twice a week. I think feeding them every day can be bad but not positive.

Make sure the pieces you feed it are small. If they are too big the food will start to rot before the BTA can digest it. I feed my BTAs krill, clam, silversides, or mysis about once every week or two and never have had a problem. In my experience you cannot overdue it because if it is not hungry it will not grasp the food. Nems really don't need to be fed that often though.

I can honestly say that I feed less than once a month. I have Condy's, I don't know if they are that different, but Last time I fed them (before yesterday) was July 5th. True story. I think over feeding them causes them a belly ache so to speak and they get a lot more floppy or droopy or just not open as much. I've had them for a year, and at first, I fed them once a week and then, once every two weeks and for the past 6 months, every month or so has been fine. Good luck!

Used to feed silversides every other day to one nem. Then once every week to several clones. Then once a month when I noticed the water quality started to suffer with feeding 10 silversides. Then once a year to just whenever I feel like given them a treat. I would like to feed them more often because they seem to grow faster but they seem happy and keep splitting.

I've heard they split when they're NOT happy. Are you sure that's not why they're splitting? ...because you're not feeding enough?

this is true but not completely accurate . Yes nems CAN split when they are unhappy. It is thought they do it to increase survival rate sine there is now two instead of one, hoping that one will find better conditions and thrive. However, they also split under perfect conditions as well when perfectly happy and healthy. In this case, its thought that they split to share these optimal conditions with their clones. I feed my RBTA once ever 3 days and she is doing excellent. I feed her small pieces of raw table shrimp or half a block of marine cuisine. although I feed her every three days I'm sure she would eat every day if I fed her. I've actually seen her catch the pellets I feed my fish and eat them so I guess she kinda does it daily. but I also think she could thrive happily if I only fed her once a month. I think its totally up to you but as long as your lights are strong enough to keep the algae in the nem growing you could prob get away with very infrequent feedings. good luck

how do i feed them

how do i feed them

im new to the hobby..and got my first bubble tip. i feed my clowns brine shrimp everyday...and the bta is hosting one of my clowns...do i need to personally put something into the bta?

I feed a chunk of squid, scallop, or shrimp once a month. Im sure the clown drops scraps for them as well. I started with 1 small RBTA....now I'm up to 12 from various splits...hopefully because they are super happy!

I haven't fed mine in years and it has done just fine. Target feeding them can be fun, but I haven't found it to be necessary.

I have a Red BTA that is hosting a pair of Tomato Clowns, I just feed the clowns some meaty foods and let them feed the Anemone.
