Feeding First and Second Shipment

Baker School

Hi everyone. Although this is our my first post, we have been reading the comments in the forum for a while.

A little background on our situation… Our 6th grade science class decided that we should set up a marine aquarium to better study the ocean ecosystem. It didn't take long to for us to be referred to TBS. We were easily convinced this was the best option for us. We contacted Richard and, like everyone else, have been blown away by the help he provides his costumers. We filled our tank a couple days ago, and are waiting to make sure everything is stable before receiving our first shipment from TBS. We hope to be ready by early next week.

Our question is should we be prepared to feed with shipment one or just for shipment two. Also, what have people had success feeding their TBS live rock with?

Thank you in advance,
Jesse (on behalf of the 6th grade at Baker Demonstration School)

I wouldn't feed anything until the tank has completely cycled and all your water parameters are stable. There are all types of different foods people use for all the various filter feeders, corals, gorgonians, etc. I use DT's live Phytoplankton and frozen oyster eggs, Reef Chile, Zeovit Sponge Power, frozen baby brine, Rod's Food, and a few others..........all sparingly. If Richard sends you any anemones, they are happy with a small piece of chopped up fresh shrimp fed directly about once a week.
