Feeding frequency

I have been feeding once per day and just realized that it is suggested some of my fish should be fed twice a day.
Is it crucial that they be fed twice daily?
I've heard many people only feed once daily and that less is better than more when it comes to feeding and once is really more convenient!

No its not crucial...Ive fed every other day with fish that supposedly require mutlipe daily feedings for aong time without issue...
I feed once a day now with an autofeedeer dropping pellets

Do your fish appear to be healthy/well fed? If so then no need to change what you are doing just because you read something different. If, on the other hand, they are thin/unhealthy, then I would look at changing something about your routine.

Hi! I used to feed once a day years ago...but now I feed twice a day....I found my fish do a lot better being fed twice a day....I feed only frozen mysis....no pellets or flakes....and a few times a week I feed fish eggs as a third meal it snack do to speak....a few small meals is better than one big meal in my opinion....[emoji3]

I feed two times a day, mainly because I have a purple queen and all the other fish expect it. They are literally at the glass looking at me right before I leave for work. My koi in the pond outside are just as bad, they hear the sliding door open and they all race over to the corner they get fed with their mouths open. Weekends I actually do three feedings. I'm always alternating between pellets, flakes, and frozen mysis. Twice a week I stick in some seaweed for the tang.

YMMV

it really depends on your fish.

i think twice day, separated by at least 4 hours, is a good way to go. this is what i usually do, plus the nori i leave in the tank.

i have fish that can't really go for even moderate amounts of time without having a decent meal though, so your mileage may vary.

as the others have stated, if your fish are looking healthy and acting fine, then you've probably got nothing to worry about. i like to do a quick body condition assessment as part of my daily census. if i noticed fish are looking thin, then i adjust my feeding accordingly.

-edit-

once in a while i do have a day where i only end up feeding once. usually because i'm busy or just lazy. not a huge deal every once in a while to vary the routine.
