Feeding LPS

Right now I feed my LPS a combination of home made frozen fish food and they take it well. I've seen and read a lot of people feeding Mysis Shrimp to their LPS.

Do Mysis Shrimp benefit the coral at all? They don't look very beneficial.

PE Mysid is pretty good, but pellet food works great as well. You don't have to feed most LPS anything, but when I do I like pellet food because it doesn't leach tons of nutrients into your water like frozen food does, and the protein level is way higher than any frozen food.

Any websites that sell the LPS pellets? I've been looking for them but can't find a good brand that a lot of people use.

Pellets are hit or miss with me. I see them eat it, only to spit it out a couple of hours later, totally untouched.

Personally, I've found grinding up freeze dried krill or "plankton" (I use SF bay company) and feeding it to pretty much everything works well.

I like pellets because its easy to spot feed. I feed my candy canes and blastos formula one small pellets but the next day I see them excrete some of it so I am hoping for something else to try. Any other ideas?

+1 on the Fauna Marin LPS pellets. With any type of pellet food if you feed to much they will spit it back out. Depending on what you're feeding of course. With acans I only give them a pellet or 2 per head and that's it. Also + 1 on the PE Mysis being very high in protein. Next time you're at the LFS compare nutritional labels. I haven't seen any other mysis have as much protein. But I can't say who says those labels are legit either.

While they really are great, feeding Fauna Marin LPS pellets should only be done in moderation. Overfeeding on them can actually harm (and even kill) the corals. I feed my LPS about an average of 0.5-3 pellets per polyp (depeding on size), once a week. So far, it's been enough to promote growth and regeneration.
