Feeding mantis

so i have a gorilla crab in my tank and i don't want the mantis to eat the crab. Can i put some brine shrimp in the tank? Will the mantis and the crab eat the brine shrimp?

It depends on the size and species of the stomatopod and the size of the crab as well as the size, flow rate and filtration of the tank. Species such as Odontodactylus havanensis, O. brevirostris, O. latirostris and young O. scyllarus will run down quite a few adult brine if they are in a small tank (10 gal). Most of the brine shrimp will be lost and filtered out in larger systems.

I have successfully trained these species of stomatopods to come to turkey baster and take a few brine shrimp at a time as they are released from the tip. (It helps if you add a contrasting color or object to the tip so that the animal attends to this point. Otherwise they usually swim up to the fattest part of the tube.)

Your gorilla crab will have no qualms about killing your mantis. I lost my N.wennera to a much smaller gorilla crab when it molted.
