i picked up a red mantis shrimp a few days ago from the LFS.. he's in a 10gal with LS, rock rubble, barnacles and chaeto..
he has taken up residence in one of the barnacles and when i got home fromwork tonight he had pulled some rubble up in front of the hole..
does this mean he is "in" for the night? should i not bother to try to feed him when he's done this?
he's been eating frozen brine shrimp..

thanks,,,lisa

You're correct, your mantis is "in for the night". Food would probably not be eaten.

Also, your mantis needs a better diet than brine shrimp. Use a kabob skewer to target feed pieces of meaty foods such as krill, fish, or shrimp.

thanks Agu,,,
"Igore" has been doing very well.. he's hanging out of his barnacle most of the day coming out of it in the evening..
i've been feeding him clam chunks and sometimes he comes out after a hermit he spies. he'll scoop it up and run back to his barnacle and i'll start hearing lots of pinging noises, guess he's fixing dinner..:)

i'm just not sure how much to feed him... what would you suggest???

thanks a lot,,,lisa
