Feeding Nori - How Much?

I currently have 3 medium tangs.

How many Nori leaves should I feed them DAILY?

I currently give them half leaf in the AM, and the other half in the PM. Is it enough or should I go w/ more? Mind you, the finish whatever i give them within the hour.

Thank you :D

feed them as much as they can eat before lights out.

try a full sheet in the AM and a half at night.

This sounds like a good schedule to me. They like to graze all day in the wild so 1-2 a day is good and more can't hurt. I don't know if you can get seaweed selects in Italy but it is better than nori IMO. It holds together alot better than nori. Make sure you get the 24 hour kind. Nice avatar by the way. Hilarious.

i know it's too funny ah :D

I just wonder if we can actually use the term "overfeeding" when speaking of Nori.

thank you all :)

No. If you have ever seen tangs in the wild they have their faces down on rocks all day just munching on algae.

i just put anothe 1/2 and they're loving it.

do you guys just throw it in the water or do you place it in a clip?

blacktip0000 don't u hajack my thread... jk :D

1/2 leaf is good for 3-4 tangs from my experience w/ my new tank (that is for 1 feeding. 2 feedings a day). so i would add 1 leaf and 1/2 to 2, placed at opposite ends.

just curious, are you guys using this:

My tangs rip the Nori from the clip, so I can't image putting a whole leaf attached to that.

If I let the leaf go in the water, eventually my powerheads will suck it in and my fish won't get close to it.

I always used a clip for mine and that worked fine--until I got my Foxface. He's about eight inches long and attacks Nori, tearing it to shreds. The other fish clean up what he is spreading around the tank for awhile. The problem is that they get full and he is still attacking all the Nori I can put in for him.

I've never seen that Foxface eat till he was full. I have a nearly seven inch Sailfin Tang that will also eat about anything green (including hair algae) but it gets full long before the Foxface and stops cleaning up after him.

So, I have to put mine in one strip at a time and don't bother using a clip. The Foxface takes it out of my hand before I can get it in a clip. I wouldn't put up with that sort of behavior, but he is armed.

As far as the clip goes, if you squeeze it hard after adding the nori the fish won't be able to pull it out. The nori will give way before the clip

Those are the same clips I use and I do just as BangkokMatt said, give the clip a good squeeze after I put the Nori in and my 3 tangs plus 1 foxface have never tore it from the clip.

I only feed 1/2 sheet per day and all are fat so I don't feel the need to feed them more. They do get daily meaty foods also.

i use the floating clips... can't remember who their made by. I fold the nori up so it is as small as a credit card

actually, the clip itself works just fine.

the only part of Nori that doesn't get ripped apart is the one that is hold in the clip. my fish are smart ;) i then let the remaining part float in the water so they can finish it all.

i'll try the spirulina tablets! thank you all :D
