feeding Ocellaris clowns

I just got a male and female pair of ocellaris (sold as fake perculas) for my tank and I am not sure what food they would like the most. What food you guys have had the most success with?

They are omnivorous but will do well with flake food. Formula 1 flake or prime reef will do well, feed some frozzen formula or enriched artemia or krill.

I can't get my female to eat. I have given them Bloodworms, brine shrimp, formula one flake and NLS flake. They both chase after it like they are starving, but once they get it only the male eats it, the female just spits it out.

Is there a problem? Or did I just not find a food she likes yet.:p

Perhaps the pices are a bit too big. My female will only eat small flakes. The male will try to inhale anything i put in the tank. You'd swear he was going to choke. So for the female, I pulverize the flakes a bit.

Most clowns find live brine hard to resist,, if she goes more than 3 or 4 days without feeding then I would try that,,,,, gut-load the brine first with flake or whatever you have.

Clowns not eating is not a good sign. They are one of the healthiest eaters in the SW tank.

Tell us more about the fish.

1) Did they eat at the LFS? (you should ask to see them eat before buying)

2) How big are they?

3) What is your tank water like? Ph, temp, salinity, Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate levels? How long has your tank been up?

4) How did you determine they are male/female?

5) Have you seen the deficate? If so what does their deficant look like?

5) Are they Captive Bred or Wild Caught fish?

6) anything else in the tank with them? If so, how long have you had them and are they healthy?

I saw them eat, they seemed fine.
they are about and 1.5 inches

not sure about ph, but temp 78, salinity 1.022, ammonia/nitrate/nitrite levels all 0 or close to 0

Tank has been up for about 13 days.

LFS said they were male female, they hang with each other and exhibit courting behaviors.

i have seen them both deficate, it was white/greenish

Captive Bred

Other tankmates are just some bumblebee snails for now.

I suspect the food may be to big for her or she wants some live food. The male chokes it down but she doesn't. I'll try to feed baby brine, maybe she just doesn't want to accept frozen yet.
If you think it a different problem, tell me.

not sure about ph, but temp 78, salinity 1.022,
Tank has been up for about 13 days.

These two I don't really like seeing. The salinity is a tad low, but not critically so.

As far as the tank time, is that 13days since established? Did you get a previously established tank?

If it's 13 days from starting from scratch, that seems a little early for fish....

Yes its from scratch.
It is early, but I got live sea sand with all the beneficial bacteria and everything. I had to put fish right in or all that bacteria i paid more money for would die. Quick cycle.:)

I was wrong about the salinity. Its actually 1.024.

The female actually ate a ton of food when I fed her about a hour ago. Even more than the male. I fed them Omega One Marine Flakes (with garlic), which she had previously rejected. Guess she changed her mind.:D
