Feeding Schedule for FO

Question regarding the concept of limited feeding to keep water params cleaner vs. "X fish can grow to y inches depending on how you feed"

What are the various opinions about a feeding schedule? I know that the more frequent feeding leads to need for more frequent water changes. What I am curious about is what is best for the fish, assuming you are keeping up with water changes.

I have seen recommendations to feed three times per day, which seems excessive at least in my experience. I currently feed frozen (variety--squid, mysis, krill, marine mixes, etc.) every other day, and seaweed on a clip every day for tang and damsel. This has seemed fine in my 75g tank which has been going strong for about 3 years now.

I am curious to know what others do for frequency.

A lot really depends on the species of fish. Some will do fine with just one feeding a day, others need more frequent feedings. Also in any species, small juveniles will need more frequent feedings than the adults.

I've been wondering the same thing with my puffer. I know with sharks they have a way to figure weight by the size. Then you feed a % of the weight. I don't know if you can do that with other fish??????

I feed my fish once a day. I have 3 eels that i feed every other day or so. On the weekends i sometimes feed 2 x a day. I have a very large Black Hawaian trigger and Niger Trigger that are absolute pigs. They are hungry all the time. I will feed them pellets but on the days i feed the eels they get the same food as the eels, generaly shrimp and krill.
