feeding sunpolyps

How do you sterilize a bottle to place over the sunpolyps when feeding? I saw on a website it says to make sure to sterilize the bottle, not sure how to do this.

you know that the ocean isn't steril right? i think people keep their tanks too clean. as long as you have enough flow, and i mean enough. let the tank get a little dirty so that corals get more natural food.

I just put a 2 litre bottle over them and shoot a bunch of mysis in there. After 10 minutes I feed the rest of the mysis that I thawed out. They're fairly full then.

I would run the cup under water for a few mins to wash off anything on it -- who knows how it was made --

chelsey bought a cup to feed her Duncan and she didnt wash it and it made the skimmer overflow for a day or 2

please talk from experience

When I had them I just use and pipette. I target fed them after feeding the tank just a little. A turkey baster would do just fine as well. I bought one from the dollar store for......well........$1 :D

I feed the sunpolyps yesterday They weren't opning when I put in the first batch of ood for everything. I then got the bottle and put mysid in it but due to he sunpolys being on a not so flat rock it was hard to kep the mysid inhe bottle before the polyps dcided to eat them. I then put them in a seperate container and used a pipette to plae the mysid right by their mouths. They did extend and take the food but they never opened up all the way. Why is this, is it likely they will eventually open up, they never even extend until feeding them either, is that the only time they will open is when being feed?

since they're not photsynthetic they don't rely on light at all.

over time they'll put themself onto an expected eating schedule. if you feed the tank multiple times a day they'll open more often expecting food.

I take it you just got them? if so don't worry about them opening very often yet. in the store I'm sure they were not fed at all.
