feeding tangs

Hello all,

so need your opinion on this, DO tangs eat only algae in the ocean ? or do they eat meaty stuff too ?

if they eat only algae, can I just feed them nori and spirilina(sp?) .. ? would it develop any nutrition deficiencies ?

I feed my tangs PE mysis and nori and pellets, but just wondering if I can get away with just feeding nori ?

They don't go out of their way to get meat from my understanding. They get their meat from the pods they pick up in the algae they graze on. That is at least what I have read about them in the wild. I would suggest keeping up with your current feeding routine.

don't feed just nori as it's not nutritionally complete. most herbivores do consume meat in the wild if they can find them. stay with your current diet.
