feeding tongs

is there any reason that some stainless steel feeding tongs (typically used for herps) wouldn't work for feeding?

the only plastic ones for fish that I see online are 6" and I would like longer (like 10+)

They should be no problem. I use a small pair of human tweezers to pick asterina's out. Dry them off and/or rinse them to make them last longer. It's not like you're leaving them in the tank for long periods.

I'm thinking if you have herps you need to seek medical attention and not rely on tongs. :D

As the good Doc said it will be fine just rinse them off good afterwards. If these have already been used for herps you may want to disinfect them first...just to make sure.

no, I havent bought them yet, I just noticed that the tongs used to feed reptiles are like 10-12" long and Ive only been able to find 6" plastic fish related ones online

I want tongs so I can feed my anems w/o the fish stealing the food/biting my hands

so sweet, I'll pick up some reptile ones

sorry TeamRC, I didnt see your post, it was close to when I posted mine

good luck with the fish not stealing the food from the bta's. I never had luck getting them to eat without me having to sit there for 30 minutes swatting away fish. BTA's will grow very fast with feeding, and just plain fast without feeding.

The LTA, flower, and mini carpet that I have now handle their own......especially since the mini carpet ate my tang.

the mini carpet has had an entire silverside stuck to him for about 3 hours now

not even the trigger will take it from him

Gotta love those S. Tapetums....so it ate your tang? My fish had sense enough to avoid it.

yeah, not a little one either. about 3.5" maybe 4" long. it was sweet finding a little tang skull next to it.

I have a pair of SS ones but the ends are rubber. Their made by kitchenaid. They work nice as I'm not hitting corals with anything hard.

excellent suggestions

andy's has a feeding stick for only 2 bucks that is long enough, but it woudl be awesome for fish but wouldnt really work for anems
