How do I design a feeding tube hard plumbed between the return pump and tank display?

What are you feeding in said tube? I can imagine that a peristaltic pump would probably be able to push into the return line of a (mostly) liquid food.

Feeding into the intake of the return pump would probably be easier overall, you could probably even drop pellets into a tube in front of the pump and have them blasted up the return.

A T , pointed up with a ball valve in it, and a banjo fitting with a cap for the top.

Cap, turn on flow, turn off flow, remove cap (there is now water trapped in there)

Drop in food, wait a bit for thawing, secure cap, turn on flow

Done
