How often do you feed your clown fish? I''m going to get two ocels and was wondering if any one had an idea or a list for feeding habits for all fish.

I picked up two False Percs this past weekend. I was just curious "what do you feed yours??..

I have some basic Marine Flakes.. (They spit them out), cyclopeeze they tend to attack, but in my 72, i'm not sure how much if it they are getting, to what is falling onto my LR, and lastly I just bought some Freeze Dried Brine Shrimp. I fed them a small chunk today, and they were popping the top of the water after them, so they appeared to appreciate them..

I was just curious what others are using to keep them healthy and colorful..

thx

Cyclopeeze is a great food for clownfish. I also recommend Mysis shrimp and other meaty preparations. Brine shrimp should not be used as a staple in their diet, but as a "treat," so to speak. It provides them with little actual nutrition, but they sure do think it's delicious.

Formula 1 (frozen, flake, and pellet) are all good options for clownfish. I feed mine primarily Formula 1 flake, mysis, and cyclopeeze, but also have ORA-Glo pellets and Reef Herbivore pellets that I feed from time to time for some variety.

thats an all to often posted uneducated misconception about brine shrimp, yes if you fail to feed them 12hrs after they hatch they start loosing nutritional value VERY quickly but newly hatched BBS are very high in fat, 23% roughly and 45% protein. Adults are higher in protein and lower in fat, about 16% fat, 63% protein. when fed live phytoplankton during grow out the adults are also VERY high in DHA/HUFA/EPA/Omega 3.

i bread and raised FW angelfish exclusively on them with excellent results for many yrs and i use them now for preparing both clownfish and Bangaii cardinals for spawning as well as growout of the larval.
