I downsized my tank from 46g to 27g cube. I had a huge RBTA for my black occs. I decided to not keep that anemone in my cube. Now, the occs just look like they are homeless. Should I put a small anemone in the tank or will they be fine? I was hoping they'd host a hammer or frogspawn instead. Are there any small anemones that they might be hosted in?

They will be fine.
They could easily take to frogspawn or hammer, or similar.
If your tank was established and set up properly, a Malu stays relatively small, but you won't have room for much else.
