was, a bit out of my price range. < if your talking to me >

peter: i think my impeller is bad, they are asking me to send the pump back so they can take a look at it. this whole time is taking up alot of time. i'm debating if i should just buy an impeller online to try to see if that works.

Considering its new they should send you a new pump all together with next day shipping. Also they should include a return shipping label so you can put the bad one in the box and send it back. I would raise hell if they didnt extend that courtesy.

okay just keep us posted. for the price they look like a kick butt skimmer, it should just do fine for you. Just remember to the skimmer outlet above the water so there is no back pressure on the skimmer( will cause overflowing).

Exactly how do you keep the skimmer outlet above water? I am curious about that. I got my whole skimmer under water well 8-10" to be exact.

aquacave, i'm not exactly sure how tony is talking about? the water outlet from the skimmer? it's like completely under water, and the back pressure shouldn't be as strong as the chainber pressure because of the chainber hight and diamater?

azxnnutty, if it were me id go and buy an extra impeller and do a mesh mod on the original impeller. unless u can wait then id go through with it with coral vue or aquacave.

I didnt mesh mod my octo. Its probably worth it but I have heard stories of balance issues causing problems. Like I said, I dont have any experience with it, but I didnt want any more hassles to deal with.

what's better, pin wheel or needle wheel inpellers?

From my experience the pin wheel performs better.
