Thanks so much! I had a female/male pair when I first got them. They were awesome together and I had them in my refugium where they could get the lion's share of pods. Unfortunately the female did'nt make it a few days.:( I got another before I knew how to tell the difference, and they fought like crazy..wacking each other w/ their snouts. It was kind of funny..but I did'nt leave them together but a day. I find bluestripes pretty easy to catch. So, I kept one in my refugium and put the other in my main display. The one in the fuge grew vibrant and fat,and the one in the display stayed aloof..skinny.I would only see him swimming the reef in the wee morning hours. Unfortunately for some reason the one in my fuge disappeared one day. It could be because at the time there was a huge mean ol' hitchiker crab in there that ate all my stomatella snails{and probably the pipe}.This morning I caught the other out near the back corner of the tank, and put him in the fuge.It will be nice to see him more and he has it all to himself.{the crab has since been removed}

Does the male Bluestripe have "barbs" on his snout? I'm not sure how to id the sexes. I'm guessing that you want a female.
Sometimes you have to educate the guys in LA to get what you want.

My LFS was supposed to get a live shipment yesterday with the possibility of assorted pipes in the order. Because of snow, the plane was grounded in Chattanooga and was bussing folks up to Bristol.
We're in Upper East TN, so most live orders are routed evrywhere before they get here. Everything may be belly up at arrival.

Yes,the male has little bumps{hard to see with my old eyes:D } on the snout. I also find the female to be drabber in color.
 
I can't find a female either. The ones the LFS gets in are so small you really can't sex them at all. I've been through two different ones and found (instantly) that they were male. I've had to catch and resell them. If anyone knows of a source, who is experienced enough to provide a true sexing, please let me know. I'm willing to jump through hoops.

My friend at the LFS is doing an order Monday.
I'll see if I can get him to grab 2 or 3.
We'll try to coach the importer on the sex.

I found a place that has them listed for sale. I spoke to someone there...she said they had to have an order first before she could tell whether they had them.:confused: And they do no sexing..of course.

The only way I've been able to sex them is to let my PROVEN male tell me. When I put a new one in (have tried two times) the male will quickly let me know. Thus far, he's chased and beaten both.

The good thing is, when they are in 'chase mode' they move around the tank without any concern about what else is going on. They are determined to attack. This makes it easy to net them as they zip through the water column. This is a good thing. Otherwise, I'd have to rip apart pounds and pounds of LR to get them out.

If anyone is still looking for them i know a guy in tex that is selling some. $25each i beleave. I am having him ship me up sum next week. So if your still looking just let me know.
 
i am intrested do you have pics. Also which blue line is it if you know.I think there are 3-4 different ones.

these look like the pacific blues. I would realy love to get a pair. What luck do most people have feeding them. I have a preety good size sump full of live oppsum shrimp. I know seahorses love them, how about pipes.
