Ferrits 8 gallon cube build

So i decided to do it.
not being able to do what i want with my 180 i have decided to set up a lil reef, my 8 gallon cube 12"x12"x12". I have been looking at it for a long time just sitting in my sump aas a fuge/skimmer return overflow tank. so my skimmer pump took a crap which gave me the energy and will to set this one up.

so here goes
step 1 clean the tank

step 2
make sure it fits on the column i had a plant sitting on

step 3 water test adn see if a seio 820 would be too much flow
(what do you think?)

so im thinking this will be lit but a single 175 halide with a DIY reflector (from the great reflector build)(thanks carol) either suspended form the ceiling or i may build a canopy to sit on top im not sure what im going to do here.

filtration: i dont think im going to have any just maybe 2 gallon water change every other week or 3 weeks.

inhabitants: im thinking softys zoos lpsand maybe some sps but not sure on sps

so on this start how do you think this will work ?
coments and criticism greatly welcome.

Wouldn't this be a cool tank to light with a small LCD array? Maybe 9 of them, mixing up white and blue.. I'd think a 175 would be an evaporation nightmare..

i was thinking the 175 halide since i already have one and its ready to go did i mention i dont want to spend any $ on this just stuff i have around the house.

so is there a problem with a 175 over a 12 " deep tank?
and how about the flow 8 gallon with a seio 820 thats 100 times turnover too much?

though a led section like that monica would be pretty sweet though

a 175 over a 12" tank shouldnt be an issue if you have a fan on the light.i had a 250w over a 14" deep tank and it stayed around 80 degrees with just a fan.
i have seen some really nice LED fixtures that would work great for that size tank but cant remember who made them.

Thanks chris was that on your lil clam tank you had set up in your room ? that one was pretty sweet.
so ill probably end up making a canopy with a fan in it just so i dont have to much light spillage in my livingroom, but that was also a reason i didnt want a canopy so id have backlighting when i watch tv
or i could just hang the light and point a fan towards it hmmm
oo the decisions

yeah the 175 was on the clam tank,i wouldnt make a hood.i would find a way to mount it in the open for maximum ventilation.my 60gallons MH is open in my living room and it isnt to bright, most of the light goes down into the tank and only a little spills into the room.
