Few Pics of my Haddoni and Fire Clown

about size to find a pair...

i've been told that clowns start out male and turn female. once they turn female they cannont change back. if a male is in a tank with no mate for too long, they turn female and cannot turn back to male... to better your chances of getting a pair, get the smallest one in a group and most likely it will still be male.

i don't know this to be exactly how it is, but came from a good source. hopefully someone here with alot of experience will shed some light on the morphing from male to female or vice versa...

Fire clown will drag fish that it does not like and feed them to the Haddoni carpet.

How often does that usually happen and is this the most aggressive clownfish in the hobby?

All these stories remind me of fire clown. I'm not sure about them being the most aggressive but from my experience they are. I had a maroon and fire in the same tank just like insaneclownfish and I can tell you that the fire clowns attacks were relentless and fierce on the bigger maroon. These clowns are the psychos of the clown world and I was bit everytime I got within a foot of his anemone. Eventually I had to get rid of him because he tormented every other fish in my tank. It was too bad because I spent months trying to find one and after all that I couldnt even keep him.

I've come to the conclusion that this is the same fish being passed around. One person will buy him then realize how much of a terror it is then trade him in. Along comes the next person and so on.....:)

I agree with Palileo. Get the SMALLEST clown out of the batch, because yours is probably a female by now and she can not turn back. If you get a big one, it is probably a female too, so one will kill the other. Get the smallest in a group and you will have a chance.
