Few Q's (pics)....

Hey guys, been doing a lot of reading.

First, wondering if you guys could ID these guys?(official names) I got them from the LFS as a pair from a nano tank, labeled as true perc's. Are they? Is there any reason for the color difference, different types maybe? They both are relatively the same size which worries me a little bit (as far as becoming mated pair), but they're both still quite young and the one with black is starting to show some dominance,

Secondly, I also have a 3-spot domino that's somewhat aggressive towards them. He doesn't nip at them, but kinda like goes straight up to them, broadside and sort of shake and swing his tail at them. He only does it for a brief second and takes off. I'm just worried he is messing up the two clowns in that they'll both become suborate to him and both stay male? Or is the 3-spot distant enough that they know this and are just getting picked on by a more aggressive fish? Don't worry though, my daily route involves about 1-2hrs trying to catch him.

BTW, don't worry about the plate, it's in the sand now. Also, the 3-spot's real bytach is blue damsel that he has chased and picked on for 4+months and keeps coming back for more ;)

I would make a trap for the domino b/c I know aggression from other fish can delay the egg laying process(if this is what you want). As far as them becoming a pair, they could still pair off even though they are getting picked on and probably gives them more of a reason to.

As far as species goes, I would say that you have an ocellaris and a percula but kinda hard to tell from the pics. I'm about 100% on the percula but the other will need a better picture to ID.

By official names, I think you mean scientific names...
Amphiprion ocellaris=false percula
Amphiprion percula=true percula

Alright, thanks for the info. I've heard people refer to clowns as ocellaris before, but didn't know that meant false perc's.

Will they still spawn though? And if the offspring do make it (just wondering) I'm guessing one dominant genes shows through, probably the ocellaris?

Are there two differant kinds of ocellaris? The pet store here has adds on their walls for two kinds of ocellars and one true perc., yet cant tell me the differance between the two ocellars. I wondered if there was a such thing. :)

the top fish is ocellaris(false perc) the bottom is the true perc. they will be fine together. they are often comfused and paired up. the perc will most likely assume dominance and become the female. all will be well. be sure to post pics of the babies when they come.

top is occ bottom is percula nice fish they will still probobly pair up
there are black occelaris and regular occellaris
also there are mostly white occelaris and naked no stripe occelaris.
