Few questions and package advice

Team RC
I am going to be switching controllers, from RKE to Profilux. The abilities you offer now and with the III upgrade later give me everything I could possible need.

1.Without the NET expansion, is it still possible to receive email/text messages of any alarms?
2. Can I fully control the Profilux from my computer using a 50 foot serial(R232) cable?(If so, I will wait on LAN with the III)
3. Are the Breeze fans capable of handling high humidity- ie using them to vent a canopy? Ive read about the air bearings, do you have any dB ratings?

Heres what I initially need the controller to do:
1. 2x250 Halides- (will use expansion plug)
2. Temp control- both heater and variable canopy venting
3. Actinic lights
4. Dose 3 channels
5. Topoff via 4th dosing channel and Non-contact sensor
6. 2 float valves I currently have(one in overflow, one at top of sump) as overflow warning/shutoff with text/email alert
7. Control of 2 Tunze 6105s

I will most likely want Salinity and possibly ORP in the future. I figure I only need 5 controllable outlets right now.

What I plan to buy:
Profilux Plus II Beginner(I might just bite the bullet on getting the EX)
2 Tunze cables
1 non contact level sensor
1- 3 fan breeze
Level sensor bar assembly
fan controller
HiAmp exp socket
4 pump slave doser

Is there anything I am missing? Do I need splitter cables for my 2 float switches? Can I "get by" without getting the EX, or is it easier to get it now?

Looking forward to working with your company. One feature coming with the III upgrade that I really like is the touchscreen view that can command the controller.

Thanks!!!

Hiya

Great to hear we will make the transition as easy as possible for you and you will be amazed at what the unit can do when you see it in the flesh :)

I will answer your questions under the text for easy referral

1.Without the NET expansion, is it still possible to receive email/text messages of any alarms?

Ans - Email yes not text, GHL uses a far superior text mesaaging system that allows for much greater alerts and alarms. The issue with built in text messaging is that it is only as good as the power supply the PC is connected to, so if the power goes out so does your texting ability, so GHL use an external devise with built in GSM devise that will give you immediate notice of alarms irrelevant of power outages.

2. Can I fully control the Profilux from my computer using a 50 foot serial(R232) cable?(If so, I will wait on LAN with the III)

ANS - We would have to specially order this for you but yes no trouble.

3. Are the Breeze fans capable of handling high humidity- ie using them to vent a canopy? Ive read about the air bearings, do you have any dB ratings?

ANS - providing there is outside airflow then there would not be an issue, if you are tlaking about shifting highly moist air inside a closed space without any adequate venting then the unit would be suseptable to premature ageing.

I have not rated the fand for noise as they are so quiet, and I mean real quiet.

ANS - GHL use dedicated float switches for the main level control, in the department they are not keen on third party items controlling such delicate operations - HOWEVER with the launch of the Analogue card you can use your float switches on this devise for further level control criterias. the PLM-ADIN card is designed for third party equipment hook up.

If you need further assistance please let me know :)

Hope this has been of help

Thank you for the reply.

I am a bit confused on what ports are standard on the Profilux Plus II Beginner package.

Do I have this right for the beginner package?-
The S port attaches to the power bar, and the doser can be chained off of that.
2 L Ports- for sensors
4 ports variable 1-10V for tunzes, breezes, dimming, etc
1 pH port

Hiya

Here you go this is standard for the plus II

level x 2
Temp port and probe
pH port and probe
S1-4 (dosing and digital power bar)
S5-8 (analogue only power bar only)
L1-2
L3-4 (these are your line interfaces 1-10V channels
RS232 port

For the EX add to this

extra level port
L5-6 (to more line interfaces)
Redox port
Salinity port

Hope that helps ;)

One final question regarding the ports. When you list L1-2 and L3-4, how many different devices can be connected to them- 2 or 4?
In other words could I connect 2 separate Tunze streams(left and right) as well as a Profilux variable fan control to the Plus II, or would I need an additional port?

I appreciate the help. :)

Hiya

Each port i.e L1L2 can be split into two creating

L1
L2

You require splitter cable YL2-1 to do this

What you fit to these ports depends on if both can be split

example

2 x Tunze pumps fitted to L1L2 via YL2-1 splitter will work

1 x SIMU-L and 1 x Tunze fitted to L1L2 will not

Reason

Simu-L requires two channels to operate

So it comes down to how many channels the devise attached to that port requires and determines if it can be split

In most situations the ports can be split making two.

So to summerize you have on the basic plusII 4 L ports, 2 actual sockets but these are split using YL2-1 making 4 channels.
