Few questions on a new tank

Im going to be setting up a 29g and i want to drill it for a closed loop.. What size holes should i drill? I want to use the same size for everything right? And a lighting question.. I was reading everyone's comments about xm bulbs.. Will a 20k 175 and 2 actintic(sp) bulbs be way to blue? I want decent growth rates.. Mostly going to be a zoa tank.. any input would be great!

Check in the lighting forum about the bulbs. As for closed loop, I've always read that it's more for larger tanks. That being said, I have thought of it many times for my 54 gal. I would imagine the hole size would depend on the pump and flow rate.

Yeah I would think that a closed loop on a 29 Is a little over board ...but if you insist I would not go over 1000 gph for the total system or you would most likely have a mini Hottub effect plus if it zoas your aiming at I dont think that massive flow is your total answer.... as for the lighting I run XM 20 ks with actnic suppl and I dont think its to blue I think its just rite IMO

Some more information about what you would like to do with the closed loop would be helpful.

I'm not really a fan of them unless they are hooked up to some alternating flow device.

Also, on a tank that small I probably wouldn't use one unless I was going barebottom.

K thanks for the input guys.. guess i won't do a CL after all.. The only pump i have now is a hydor #4, which im sure would be way over kill for this tank.. Anyone have a smaller 1 or 2 nano's they wanna trade?

i actually will have two nanos and a K1 i would would work something out LMK i will be tearing down my smaller setup next week to transfer to new one
