Few quick question

1. For Bulkheads how do you know which size, is it the size of the pipe? So if I am using a 1" pipe I need a 1" bulkhead?

2. When you transfer from an old tank to a new tank, do you need to wait for the tank to cycle or can you move stuff in right away as long as salinity and temp is okay. I know I will get the brown algae and such but there should be no problem in doing that correct?

Thanks

You may have a small cycle with new sand. The sand may not be super clean and something in there may cause a small cycle. Usually it is nothing to be too concerned about.

I would measure the bulkhead to determine what size hole to drill. The pipe fits inside the bulkhead so the bulkhead will be a larger diameter.

Yeah I know it will need to be larger than the pipe, just didnt know how they rated bulkheads. If I have a 1 1/2" pipe do I need a 1 1/2" bulkhead or a 2" bulkhead?

1 1/2 inch pipe is 1 1/2 inch bulk head the bulk heads are the same size as the pipe size just the hole it goes in is larger.

The cycle will be small, like Greg said. When I started my little tank several months ago, the water came out of the tank in Chad's basement, and some good sand too. Didn't take long to cycle at all...

From my 55 to 120g upgrade, I had a small cycle as well. I used rock from established tanks and added some sand from the 55g. I just considered it a huge water change. :) Make sure your temp/salinity is stable like you said and things will be fine.

I agree there the small cycle I had on my 240 when sitting it was was hardly even noticeable. And I used all new sand, and 240 lbs of base rock.
