ok well i picked up another gold striped maroon clown today and they keep fighting. is this normal will it stop?

Marroons are hands down the most aggressive clowns you can get. If you got a marroon that's close to the same size I would not expect them to stop fighting. If you have one that is like 6" long and added one that is maybe 1.5" you should see it subside pretty quickly.
Marroons are not quick to give up territory or give up ranking status unless the outcome is obvious to both fish. They would just assume die fighting. The best chance you have of pairing them up is if you have a huge female and a very small neuter or male. Never pick two that are close in size when pairing this species.
