How many fighting conch's are recommended to keep the sand clean and sifted?

They say 1 per 30 gallons. I would do no more then 5 in your tank.

Sure do. I bought one the other day, and within five minutes. My trigger had it upside down getting him a $10 snack.

Queens also get on your rock and will knock stuff around where fighting concs stay on the sand.

Do I need to remove the sandsifting starfish before adding the conch's?

No. Typically they will work well together.

The sandsifting star is a predator.

If by working well together you mean destroying all life in your sand bed then yes, they would be team devastation.

Yes the sand sifting star is a predator - thanks for pointing out the obvious. I personally wouldn't have a sand sifting star in any aquarium. Fighting conchs in my opinion are a better way to go in conjunction with nassarius snails and cucumbers. But lord knows there are other people on this forum more experienced than me and can provide you with more advise nor matter how sarcastic.

My advice on cleanup crews is to "slowly" add them to the tank so they do not starve. Many online stores sell "packages" that are way too much for a given size aquarium and they will die of starvation or eat each other if not matched appropriately.

I have three Queen Conch in my 470g cube tank and they do get BIG, so I might have to find a home for one or two of them down the road if they get too big. The fighting conch are more suited for tanks we keep.

Let me qualify this by stating "from what I've read", the Green Brittle Star and Serpent Stars are carnivores. They will eat excess food, sift sand for worms, snails and other beneficial critters as well as capture small fish, cukes, larger snails, etc.

Some reportedly do not act this way, but once they become large enough and if not target fed regularly, they will eat what they have to in the aquarium in order to survive.

I need a conch what other types are ther if any????
