fighting or courting

I have moved my two biggest clown fish from my main system to their own tank. However they appear to be fighting or courting . I’m not sure since I have never seen clown fish do either. What do you make of this video the link goes to Google. Sorry for the poor lighting quality. I shot the clip with a camera in my garage with little light. Its hard to see but what’s with the rooting in the sand the largest clown is the only one that doing this. Is this normal for clowns?

Thanks Chris

Well I can definately tell who the boss is. A move like that will sometimes cause fighting. Hopefully she calms down. Keep a close eye on them. If it gets too bad, you may want to consider moving one. How long have they been in their own tank together?

I moved them on Monday night. When they were in the main system they were inseparable. I guess the close quarters has her cranky. I read on this forum that clown fish go though a dominance phase in the pairing process. I hope that this is what I am seeing. What do you make of the sand trashing. My first instinct would be that this is part of the dominance show.

That would be my guess also. As long as the other one is not getting injured, I would let them try to work it out. Were they hosting an anemone in the other system?

No I have a rose in the tank, but they never took up residence. I can not see any physical damage being done to the little guy, but know doubt he is an emotional wreck .
