Fiji Clowns

Has anyone found a reputable vendor that can obtain Amphiprion clowns from Fiji, A. crysopterus? These are similar to A. clarkii but have beautiful blue stripes in place of the white stripes.

bluezooaquatics.com has them on special order..what ever that means..it says they have them in stock. There were a few people that bought latz clowns from them and seemed to be very happy with their purchase. I haven't ordered fish from them yet but everything else I have ordered from them has been top notch. I got my purple LTA from them and that anemone is known to be a not so good shipper. It arrived to me very healthy, burried its foot quickly, and ate a silverside quickly after that. Their communication with their customers is awesome. You should give them a try.

Beautiful fish, if you get them be sure to qt them min 6 weeks duration in and out of hyposalinity, Large adults are very bad shippers and often are highly prone to brook and ampyloodinium (sp. sorry).
i have two juvies from vanuatu, that could also be A. akinydos but the jury is still out.
they were flicking and not swallowing food when I bought them now after qt all is well barring aggression between the two, hopefully it will settle

hope you find yours

BTY, Chryogasters can be found from several locals, not just Fiji. I used to work in the fish trade and I would agree that these don't ship well.
Quarantine is a must!

JamesJR and adtravels, thanks for the tips. I found a small but totally awesome LFS in town this weekend (8" Bali Green Slimer- $65!) that I had heard of but could not locate before. The owner, who was quite knowledgeable, said A crysopterus were very poor shippers and he could never keep them alive once they arrived. Congrats on your skill. I may go just go with A. clarkii.

I was wanting to look into a pair of chrysopterus too, but heard that they're quite prone to brook, even after QT'ing and settling into captivity they could succumb to brook down the line. That's what I heard anyhow.

Seen the blue stripes on some while diving GBR, that is really cool. They are quite a nice looking anemonefish. Good luck finding some!

Did you ask bluezoo what the special order meant?

Bluezoo's website explains what "special order" means in their case.
