Fillin up!

Been up all night making water and salt. Cuz I was afraid it would over flow in the brute. I am almost up to the overflow. I went to gateway today and got refractometer, another powerhead, test kit and 5lbs live rubble I did put it in a mesh bag right in the display cuz I don't quite have enough water yet in the skimmer. I pit the startsmart in and the prime hopefully by 9pm I will have enough to run pumps.

Well last time the tank was set up it was too close to the wall to be able to do this and there was no such thing as gyre pumps. But I was wondering if anyone with a 3 foot tank or anyone for that matter put the powerheads on the back wall to sort of simulate a wide flow of the gyre. Obviously no live stock right now but the water is too cloudy too really see the flow. On another note the 1/2 cup per gallon was real close. I filled about 40 gallons at 1/2 cup per gallon and just tested with the new refractometer and it was 1.024 so I can bring it up a little higher now on the remaining water. I really like how well this salt mixed so far. And I did use my new test kits just because all reading negative but I figured that! Time to go see if I have enough to get return pump going

Nothing to report no ammonia or nitrite and still cloudy but slowly clearing up. It's seems like some good flow 1500gph, 850gph bouncing off the front glass and then the return pump. Not running the skimmer yet till after the cycle. I have some saltwater mixed and ready for emergency and 5 gallons fresh for top off. I need to bring salinity up a bit so I may top off with the saltwater I am at 1.024

It's a lot of fun starting new tanks! Try to make our frag swap on March 18th:)
