Filter Bags

I bought a CPR filter sump inlet assembly and I was wondering how often I should change the bag or rinse it?
Also, I tried a sock on the output of my Deltec Skimmer and the sock was frothing bubbles like crazy! I wanted to eliminate some of the bubbles in my sump coming from the skimmer, but that clearly isn't going to work, I have a 20 gallon sump that I can't remove from the stand unless I take it apart and I don't have the tools to build something to stop the bubbles from entering my aquarium. Any suggestions? could I use a media bag instead of a sock? or will I just get more froth?
- Thanks.

In the past, I have plumbed in a large dump or mini canal with 2 inch or 3 inch PVC pipe to direct skimmer output and bubbles away from main inputs.

IN a pinch I did something different.
Recently (last week), while changing one of my 90's from Red Sea Berlin skimmer to HSA 250 Skimmer.
My skimmer "feed" pump is on one side of my sump. The output needed to be heading towards the other side and of course headng toward the input of the main back into the tank, which caused a bubble problem as yourself. I used some eggrate set vertically to form a dividing wall and some fish partition on it. Plastic which has little holes in it plastic tied to the eggcrate. Not sure what the sieve rating is, but it allows the water to go through but it has cut down the bubbles big time. As the current goes round and round by the time it gets to the other side of my sump the bubbles are almost gone. Or maybe eggcrate partition and wrap a couple layers of nylon screen would work too. Anything that will allow the bubbles to bump into and disapate and allow flow yet not turn into a glorified bio-filter should do it.
