Filter conversion

I just recently purchased a 75 gallon tank with overflow set up. Iit came with a euro foil 125 but no sock. I want to set up a Fowler set up. Can I use bio balls in place of the sock.

Do you have a link to the Euro Foil 125? I’ve never heard of that and am internet search is not showing anything aquarium related.

Did you mean Euro-Fil? If so, putting bio balls in there will likely result in them floating around in the water/sump. This partially defeats the intended purpose of the bio balls. They are intended to be used with water trickling over them and high air exposure to maximize bacterial growth. Having them submerged lowers the air exposure.
