filter question

i'm setting up a new seahorse tank and i've been trying to decide on a filter. my original plan was to use a hang on, but i really don't want to have an intake tube in the tank because i'm affraid they will get their tails stuck on it. i found this filter while looking for something different and it looks like a good idea. what do you think. i would be using it as a way to move water and somewhere to run carbon if needed not as actual filtration since i have LR in the tank, so i wont be using the bio balls or sponges.

I have no experience with that filter but it looks pretty good since it provides biological, mechanical and chemical filtration and meets your requirement of not being a hang on back filter.

You looking into dwarf seahorses or the medium sized variety?

I would not worry about filter intake tubes for any of the medium sized horses IME. When they are fry you want to be careful, but once they get some size to them

Personally that filter looks kinda bulky for something that would go in my tank. JMO

i'm getting either a pair erectus or reidi. Its size really isnt an issue for me because it will be in the back corner of the tank, and it will help eliminate surface film since its a surface overflow intake.

I have run a lot of flow on the intakes with reidi and erectus. IME a fluval 404 is not to much for them and would give you superior filtration if you kept up on cleaning, which you would have to do anyhoo with that filter.

You could just put the return to break the surface and also aid in aeration.

If your set on the filter linked, go for it. I'm just not to much of a fan of those filters IMO.
