Filter Recommendations

I am still in the early stages of planning my fish tank. I have experience keeping freshwater fish but I am about to embark on my first marine tank.


Here is my plan.

Ive already acquired a 65 gallon tank/stand.

I need to know what kind of filter and powerhead I should purchase for this size tank. Also brand recommendations are welcome.

Is there a general list of equipment needed?

Live rock and a good protein skimmer. Mechanical filtration is generally reserved for polishing water if used at all. read the sticky at the top of the page.

Is the tank drilled with drain and return?

Powerheads 2 hydor korillia 3's or tunze if you have the money to spend not sure which model tunze would work for you.

A few months ago I added a 30 gallon long sump to my 110 and it has a section for a fuge. It was made from a glass aquarium, I just added baffles. Works great for me.
