Filter sock

Hi y'all,

I recall that some of you use filter socks to periodically polish water. I recently saw this sock in a thread of a person from Thailand:

It's a 200 micron sock. It's made of flexible synthetic fibers. It's supposedly easy to handle and clean.

Do any of you use this type?

My new tank still has some tiny particles floating around. I used a Magnum 350 micron canister filter for a few hours to polish the water, but it's underrated for my tank size and I did not see very much difference afterward. I am considering running a filter sock periodically for awhile to get rid of these particles.

I have micron sock filter that catches the water before it goes thru my refugium and skimmer. Yes it takes a lot of gunk out of the water and keeps it sparkling clean but I know it also takes some good stuff out too. When I take them out to clean them about every 4 - 5 days there are always some pods in the sock . But overall I like them and like I say the water is very clear.

I normally put mine on the overflow pipe in the sump when I clean the tank and do water changes. This way if I stir the tank up it catches all the gunk, but normally I don't run it all the time.

They work but not as well and the 100micron does. They last much longer tho and dont need to be cleaned as much. For very small stuff I use the 100 and then go back to the 200 or not one a all.

I run a sock constantly but have never seen one like that. It looks like it would be easier to turn inside out for cleaning than the style I use. where do you find them?

The original poster in Thailand said that he got it from Marine Depot. The link he posted had several 200 micron socks but I could not tell which one was the one in the picture. Maybe KingRicky can tell us the make.
