Filter Sock

Filter socks aren't needed. But think about it, all that's dirt that is collected in them would still be in your tank I change mine once a week I have 21 filter socks and I will admit they are a pain but in my tank I feel they are totally needed.

I notice no more particulate floating in the water column then when I was running socks 24/7. Also my sump is just as clean before taking them off.

Might be the case for your tank. But if you add filter socks and they get dirty in 3 days. That means your statement is false. How can your sump and water not have more suspended particles if your socks get clogged in 3-4 days. Or even a week. ?

I never said they were dirty or clogged, just that I changed them every 3 days, per BRS testing on how often they should be changed. Only thing in them after 3 days was pods, and a slight brown color.

Not saying your tank needs them. Just saying if they catch anything. The logically there has to be more suspended stuff in tank without them
