Filter with dwarfs and Reidi

Trying to squeeze two questions into one post.

I am getting ready to start a species only tank. Can I mix Reidi and dwarfs?

Can I have live sand and a Biowheel in the tank? I know dwarfs are really tiny and fear they might get sucked up into the filter.

No you cannot mix Reidi and Dwarfs. Dwarf need a smaller tank and newly hatched baby brine shrimp everyday. Reidi need a larger tank and take frozen mysis.

What about the filter and live sand? The Reidi won't eat the little ones would they?

Reidi's have been known to eat their own babies. They could mistaken them as shrimp.

When I had dwarfs. I had them in a 5 gallon tank with an aquaclear filter with a sponge over the intake. I also used sand. With dwarfs you need to be careful of hydroids. These can come in on live rocks, live sand and even snails.
