Filtration for 29g(skimmer present)

I started to have problem with detritus in my tank. I have pretty powerful skimmer RO BH-1000 so no problem with nitrate. Always 0 however I am tired of vacuuming the sand bed at each water change. I have a CC but still lots of stuff in the water. I don't have a sump so I assume the only option would be a HOB type of filter, right? Any recommendation?

I also have a 29 gal. Mine is an all-in-one jbj rimless. I have some detritus build-up in the back chambers but I don't really worry about it at all since, like you, I have 0 N, 0 P. Do you run a sump? I would increase the flow to prevent it from settling on the sand.

Also, I don't clean my sand at all and have tons of worms, brittle stars, etc in my sand that may be keeping it clean - and may be present because I don't clean the sand in the 1st place, i don't know.

how often do you do water changes I have worked a 20 gallon with nothing but a power head a heater and a light noting for filter and it keeps softies and lps fantastically but I would at least be doing weekly water changes of 5 to 7 gallons

I do weekly water changes 2-2,5gallons. I've ordered a Jabeao WP25 powerhead to exchange one of my Hydor Koralia 425. It will add a lot of flow and I also ordered Rapids Mini Canister filter. I'm no sure if I install it though.

I got the Rapids Mini Canister and installed it. It is completely quiet. So far works great. I was wondering if I can set the output pipe in the vertical position in the tank. All the pictures I've seen so far shows the pipe in horizontal position but I would like to move the filter to a different place in the tank and hide the output a little.
