I just upgraded my tank from a 65gal to a 120rr. As expected, I have lost several fish and some corals. (my poor powder brown)
It's been about 6weeks and I am having water problems. PH pushing 8.6, ammonia over 0.5ppm and Nitrate hitting as high as 80ppm. These water problems started when one of our fish got ich and we started treating the tank (turning off the protein skimmer) which made our water quality go way down. We stopped treating for ich and have tried getting our water parameters back to normal and can't. We've now had ich for about 4 weeks and have been doing 10% water changes every 2 days since the end of the initial ich treatment.
I'm looking into adding some kind of filtration system to my tank to help stabilizing it. I currently have a 40gal breeder tank as my sump with a Octopus Recirculating Skimmers on one end. I have a closed loop 8w UV in the middle, some live rock and then the return pump back to the tank. I am currently using no chemical or mechanical filtration such as carbon media or filter pads.
My question is... I have to upgrade my UV and I am thing about getting this system...

Has anyone out there used this set up and if so what do you think about it?
