Fin Damage from Pumps?

Hope this is the right place for my question.

I recently introduced new fish to my aquarium after TTM and Quarantine about 1 month ago - Bellus Angel (Female), 3 Bartlett's Anthias, Blue nose Pencil wrasse (Female). No issues noted during quarantine. Within a week the 2 smaller Anthias had NO tail left - except for a stub in the middle (appear to be slowly growing back now). No biting / aggression noted from any of the fish (all 3 female).

One of them was missing top part of tail. Hanging low in tank. next day (day 2 after introduction) bottom part was missing - no signs of infection, thinning or tail rot. Swimming/eating fine.

I figured it was angelfish being aggressive (he only postures) or Anthias working on pecking order (never seen any of them bite / nip - only posture) and settling into feeding routine.

Recently (last week) introduced another set of fish. Each one in perfect condition (7yr old black clown, new yellow kole tang, male blue nose pencil wrasse) in QT. No aggression from the clown - he's got a new lease on life after living in a 12G Nano for 7yrs) and is buddy buddy with tang.

The new, male wrass keeps to the top of the tank (tasty pods evidently). On Day 2, he was missing the top 1/4 of his tail, and about 1/2 of his dorsal fin looks slightly frayed. Looks just like one of the Anthias'. He swims fine, and doesn't seem bothered.

What's going on?
There are no "critters" or hitchhikers in the tank other than snails
NO fish is displaying signs of infection.
This is NOT tail rot.
They are all eating well, and being social in the peaceful Reef Tank.
Each fish was purchased from LA, and quarantined for 4 weeks (including 2wk Tank Transfer).
NEVER seen any aggression (and I've watched a good bit).

My Question (sorry to take so long) :
Do you THINK the Maxspec Gyre could be the cause of this (fish swimming too near it the "first" time, and losing some fin in the process)? It's the ONLY pump currently in the tank, set on alternating gyre mode.

I highly doubt it's the pump causing the damage. It is very likely some aggression by either the angelfish or the female wrasse. Just because you don't see any aggression going on, doesn't mean it isn't happening. My female clownfish loves to bite my foxface and my Kole tang. I never see her do it, but I know it's going on (telltale bite marks on their flanks every now and then).

You might post this over in Reef Fishes to see if some of the resident experts can provide more insight.
