Fin Rot? Please Help with Input!

Hi I have a 14G Biocube with 14lbs of live rock, live sand, 5 snails, atleast 5 crabs and 1 black and white clowm (female), approx 2.5 years old.

Over a week ago she developed a single white dot on the edge of her right gill and I instantly panicked and thought ick. My LFS encouraged me to try Herbtana as I felt very confident I was catching it in the early stages. I completed the treatment and actually extended (directions said that's ok) treatment because I know while the spot is gone, if it really is ick, the parasite is just in a different stage of the lifecycle. There was only the single spot and to date no others have appeared.
Additiontally, and the real reason for my post is that I noticed 3 days ago that she started with a white-ish/clear discoloration on the top 2/3 of her tail fin as well as on her back dorsal fin. She has been eating very well and acting normal. I have been trying to get a picture but it's been impossible to get a picture of the fish yet alone one that shows the condition that is concerning me. I have done research about fin rot and everything I read shows very dramatic, ragged examples and RED fins. The fins on my fish are white/clear.
I am also worried because I have read that fin rot is caused by SOMETHING; poor nutrition, poor water quality, etc. I am doing a water change today - but wanted to post this first. Any input is very much appreciated. I have only had a saltwater tank for about 2.5 years and have had great luck so I am completely green to the diseases and their identifcation and treatment.

You say it's only on the fins? Google "lymphocystis" and see if that looks familiar. But whether it's Lympho or fin rot, your best bet (for now) is to step up your WCs, and to start soaking her food in a vitamin supplement (Vita-chem, Selcon, Zoecon).

Thanks for your thoughts. I will continue to do research on lymphocystis but I am not thinking that is what's going on. Her fins have changed color at the edges, but currently show no actual growths. I will make a stop this evening to get the vitamins. I will also keep trying to get a picture....Thanks again

Often fin rot can resolve on its own. If the fish is easily caught you can do dips (45min-2 hr) using an antibiotic (maracyn 2 which is minocyclin I think) is usually good at mitigating fin rot. Are you sure the fins not getting nipped or damaged in a something like a new stinging coral or internal powerhead impellor. Usually there is a nidus for fin rot if you dont see it manifested on a few fins. Also, if the clown is in a ripping current, the tip of the tail is more prone to dmg from tattering (these guys are not made to swim fast or long). Finally, husbandry as you mentioned is a good fall back. Diversify teh diet (fresh flake food as that stuff looses omega-3 and vit c in a few months if not frozen) and do those water changes. Finrot is opportunistic and usually hits fish when they are stressed and/or malnourished.
