final questions on PFO parallel reflector

Hi guys -

Well, I'm getting ready to re-do my canopy, and just want final advice before I call you up and place an order next week.

I'm looking to replace my current hood with a home-built new one [that matches the stand] ... and replace my current white-metal reflector with a PFO parallel reflector 36".

Presently I've got a Hamilton setup, and will be using the same ballast/bulbs setup ... but I see that the PFO reflectors come with/without a mogul socket/cord deal.

Do you know if the plug-in for this would fit my Hamilton Ballast's plug? [3 pronger, weird plug ... could get a pic if that helped].

I'm aware that I'd want to re-use all the stuff from my 2 x 55w pc actinics to mount onto this reflector, just checking whether mounting my current mogul socket would work - or if buying the one with the socket/cord would do the job [maybe better? as the socket would be perfectly `lined up'?].

I'm also assuming the ends of this fixture are open? [so I can put my 2 current 4" fans on there.

Thanks for the questions. When I asked PFO they were no where near as helpful as y'all have been in the past ... told me that it wouldn't fit my hood, end of story. Should have made it apparent I would build a new hood [for greater efficiency and closer-to-water PC's that this reflector would give].

Thanks a lot. I always recommend your place, never mind for the good prices but I really appreciate the time you spend answering all these posts. If I'm even in Indiana, I'm going to buy you all a beer :)

Anyway - let me know, I'll probably be calling you next week [payday] to order this.

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the compliment, we appreciate it! I think I understand you right tha tyou want to mount the reflector into your own custom canopy? If that is the case, you shouldn't have any issues as far as fit goes, you can build your canopy around the size of the reflector. And if you had to you can always trim an inch or two off each end. The ends of the reflector are open, so it's no problem to put a fan on each end if you want to. There are predrilled holes on the vho/pc tabs to mount your actinics. You will probably be able to use your existing sockets, and just run them through the holes that are predrilled in the reflector. That way you don't have to worry about any kind of quick disconnect matching up to your Hamilton ballast. Let us know if you have anymore questions or need measurement to get started on a canopy.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy, and thanks for keeping your site fairly regularly updated.

That's just the info I wanted. Probably would order in the canopy and then build the stand ... as I have one that's functional just not optimal right now. Only swap the lights the night when I swap canopies/reflectors.

Thanks for the answers ... now it's finally time to use up my gift certificate I've had from your place since August.
